In July 2007 I applied for a teacher training program called the INTERNATIONAL LEADERSHIP in EDUCATION PROGRAM (ILEP). I thought the selection was going to be very tight, but ...it was also beyond my imangination that I finally admitted to join the program just by one telephone interview. Horray........
This program is initiated by the Dept of State USA administered by the International Research and Exchanges Board (IREX). It offers a great opportunity for teachers from Asia to upgrade their knowledge on curriculum development, teaching methodologies, the use of internet for teaching, and also internship in some high schools in the US. What a dream come true!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I was scheduled to leave for the USA on January 7th 2008. The first place to visit is Washington DC for the opening seminar (I just can't wait to see the snow...snow...snow and snow!!!!!)Then I will fly to Cleveland, Ohio in Kent State University exactly. There I have to attend some classes as visiting students.
What makes me excited is that this program is TOTALLY FREE of CHARGE. I DON'T HAVE TO PAY A SINGLE PENNY. That's why I hope my opportunity here can be used as a triggering point for all teachers (not only English teachers but also Math and science)
So guys whoever read this info, and you want to go to US just like me, better prepare yourself from now!! It was frightening at first whether or now you are accepted, but convince yourself about the power of dream!!
So that's it, I share more on my "journey" later on my next post!!

ALSA UI... Here we come...
Debate...debate..debate....
We (SMA Taruna Nusantara Debating Team) got an invitation from ALSA UI about debate competition. As we have all known, this occasion is going to be something amazing as we have had it once in 2006.
We prepared ourselves, day and night (maybe!!), studying the motion posted in the web, search for the info regarding the motions, and practicing debate all week long.......pheewww..
The D-day has come. we went to Jakarta on april 19th by plane. Jogjakarta Adisucipto airport was totally ...wet!!! We were welcomed by rain cats-and-dogs. But it didn't stop our spirit to attend such prestigious competition.
The plane took off and so on and so on...when we finally arrived at the Soekarno Hatta International Airport. unlike in Jogja, jakarta was so bright as we got there at around 5.00 p.m. The next journey was not worth telling as we were shocked with traffic jam here and there.....(what a stressing time)
We were fetched by Jakartan people and took us to Cijantung where we spent the nights until the end of the competition.
Day 1 was such boring day as we just wait and wait and wait...till the tech-meet began continued with opening ceremony and exhibition...and that's it..we went home
the second day...was a bit different. that's the day when the battle is about to begin. We arrived at FH UI at 11.00 (as the committee planned). But what happened next was we have to wait until 12...and then wait again until 14....and we start debating at 15.30...what a lousy time management (we never had such kinds of "rubber time" in our school)....
The 1st, 2nd and third prelims went on untiil the clock show 10.30..WHAATTTTT????
During the prelims, our team loss once and won twice
Day three...has no difference. There were two more prelims. We won once and loss once...and finally we advanced to the octo final (which was held on the fourth day..and we loss....hik..hik..hik)
But it's okay...at least we managed to become the breaking team as we did last year as the octofinalist also.
The following day.....we just stay at home while some of us refresh teir mind in malls....
Oh jakarta.... rain, thunder, and lightning accompanied us during the last day of our stay in Jkt.
The story was predictable....we went home on April 25 by plane....and arrived at our school at 7.30......safely!!!
The experience was so unforgetable that we would like to have it once more next year...hoping that we got the invitation... and the most important thing is that the committee really manage the time well....
Thats' it and "WE DESERVE TO WIN....."

Starting a Brand New Way of Life
Amazing!! That's my first word knowing how easy our life now is. Everything can be done instantly...every device is altered into multi porpose one!!!Yeahhh...That's life!Life keeps on changing....and willy nilly we have to face it at all cost!
I plan to use my blog to serve the bloggers, netters, or whoever they are addicted to internet, about my thoughts, opinion, idea, especially related to man-to-man relationship as my whole day I deal with living creatures....students (yeah..I'm a teacher devoting my life for the betterment of Indonesian youth.
That's my first remark, wish I can add more next time as the title of my blog is...."Where The Entire World Gets into Your Seat'
